Symbolizing high flying ambition, the myth of Icarus warns us against complacency and hubris, and similarly, ultrarunning symbolizes the human drive for empowerment and warns us against heeding our own limitations, self doubt, and fears. To those in the sport, ultrarunning is not only a way to be better, but also to know thyself, and know what better means. To those on the outside of the sport, ultrarunning is the myth that truly heroic things are not achieved by mere mortals, but only by heroes. Icarus Florida UltraFest was organized with the idea that truly heroic things can be achieved by all of us -- if we are willing to put in the time, energy and effort demanded by the task.
What this means for seasoned ultra runners and new runners alike is that the Icarus Florida UltraFest is not just a place to test your limits, but to abandon them.
"There are a few races around the globe that have opened their championships to athletes worldwide to fill the void on the cancelation of the 24 Hour World Championships this year." - Nadeem Khan, Director of Communications, International Association of Ultrarunners (October 2014)

By providing this unique opportunity in a safe and well staffed setting, those interested in ultrarunning can come and run any distance, as all events are timed, and learn just what this wonderful sport has to offer.
Organized by seven times Spartathalon finisher, and founder of the International 100+ UltraRunning Foundation, Inc., Andrei Nana, and the race director for the Run For Aurora, in Aurora Colorado, Claire Nana, the Icarus Florida UltraFest promises to be an epic 6 days of running.
Set in the beautiful climate of Ft Lauderdale Florida, the Icarus Florida UltraFest promises moderate temperatures with cool ocean breezes during the day, and mild evenings.
During the 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 editions, athletes represented 30 countries and succeeded to break 18 new records as well as to qualify for the 24H national teams.
